Cover Reveal: Death and Mr. Right

Now Playing: Mr. Brightside - The Killers

Hey guys! Today I have the pleasure of revealing to you all the cover for Kendra L. Saunder's new book Death and Mr. Right that's gonna be released through Spencer Hill Press's urban fantasy imprint, Spence City

Release Date: October 1, 2013

It is March 32nd, the day that doesn’t exist, and Death, the agent of nightmares, has been demoted and exiled to live among mortals for the rest of his unnaturally long life. Everyone knows They don’t look lightly on important items getting lost or an agent falling in love.

Can the diva-like Death navigate the modern world, recover what was stolen from him (the names of the damned… ooops!) and get his job back? Or will he fall in love with Lola, the pretty thief who got him into trouble in the first place?

Doesn't it sound like it'll be great because I know I'm totally sold!

As well, why not learn a little about Kendra?

Get to Know My Writing (Even More?)

So this meme was stolen off from Rachel from Fortune Favors the Brave (AKA the person I probably love the most in the Twitter/Universe. So in an attempt to make up for bad posting this week, here's the Be Inspired meme, which I'll happen to do for the two stories I've written/am writing (and if you happen to do this, link to the comments will ya? :D) Onwards!

1. What is the name of your book?
Well, the finished one is tentatively titled "Chosen" while the in-progress one was nicknamed "The Vertigo Squad".

2. Where did the idea for your book come from?
Chosen was the product of many Google/Wikipedia searches on Norse mythology, and just watching Lord of the Rings, Beowulf, Game of Thrones and then watching Thor. Basically after reading my first *real* fantasy books (i.e it's got dragons mentioned more than once and it isn't a background, it IS the plot) like Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Eyes Like Stars, and the Game of Thrones (I've only gotten to the first one). Vertigo Squad was a recent one, where I went on a superhero-movie and comic binge read/watch and instead of the clear cut hero and villain that we get in fantasy, I wanted vigilantes that the people hated/loved/revered.

3. In what genre would you classify your book?
Uh, epic fantasy and urban fantasy? I like fantasy a lot, sue me!

4. If you had to pick actors to play your characters in a movie rendition, who would you choose?
I don't even know. WAIT, I wanted Troian Bellisario in everything. And Cambria Edwards to direct. That is all.

5. Give us a one-sentence synopsis of your book.
Chosen: It's a roller-coaster ride of fantasy thrown in, combined with an ensemble of rather interesting characters supposed to be helping the main girl fulfill her destiny.

Vertigo Squad: I don't even know,

6. Is your book already published?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, THAT'S A GOOD ONE GUYS!

7. How long did it take you to write your book?
Chosen took around two years, while Vertigo is looking to take up six months...

8. What other books within your genre would you compare it to? Or, readers of which books would enjoy yours?

I don't even know! I'd say Game of Thrones, sans the incestuous relationships or molestation of 13 y.o queens.

And for Vertigo, fans of comic books and superhero movies.

9. Which authors inspired you to write this book?

Bill Finger/Bob Kane for Vertigo, but I definitely got the push when I saw

10. Tell us anything that might pique our interest in your book
Vertigo Squad: Teenage Superheroes.

Chosen: The last Valkyrie fated to save the world.

11. Tag five people!
Followers, it's up to you!!!

Paranormal Books amidst piles of Fantasy, wait WHAT?!

On the iPod: I Miss You - Blink 182

Hola, blog readers, I recently started this one book like a while ago and finished it just to forget it because 'lo, I slept most of the summer (besides blogging and the YAcT) so it's about time this book got reviewed.

Goodreads summary:
Love ties them together. Death can't tear them apart.

Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan's band playing a critical gig and Aura's plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend's life. She never thought it would be his last.

Logan's sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He's gone.
Well, sort of.
Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan's violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. Almost.
It doesn't help that Aura's new friend Zachary is so understanding—and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit.
As Aura's relationships with the dead and the living grow ever complicated, so do her feelings for Logan and Zachary. Each holds a piece of Aura's heart...and clues to the secret of the Shift.

Oh god, Shade was such an emotional book for me that it's really nice to find a paranormal book that wasn't really fun and comical in a sense, as much as it was dealing with the emotional backlash of losing someone AND still have them without you, but not with you.
Crazy right?!
Well, Shade's about Aura Salvatore and her boyfriend, Logan (the geek and the rocker love) with another twist thrown in; teenagers or those born *after the Shift* can see ghosts while their parents have to rely on BlackBoxes (<--the salt against the ghost). So, one day when Logan's off after a concert and he and Aura are, um, going to consummate their love, he dies. Yep, but he's still here in the world living as a ghost. And then you throw in Zachary, who's so understanding, and kind, and incredible and alive, well then, you have yourselves a quite thoughtful Urban Fantasy/Paranormal/YA that's really beautiful and all I can say is, pick up a copy for yourself. Jeri Smith-Ready wrote a flawless and timeless book that deserves this:

Shade also has that very *doomed relationship* (between Logan and Aura) feel to it, and I loved it. It also included a decent love triangle because it had a purpose (le gasp! it's true though). I'd say Shade deserves a 10/10 on the WondefulbookshelfofJaz scale.
I'm pretty sure that's a first here.
I love claudia so much. ohh jinksy!
